As we observe Labor Day this weekend, and celebrate the unofficial end of Summer and the start of football season, some customers of "The Shack" ask us about oysters during the "R" months.

Ever since the first Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar was founded in Carolina Beach, NC eleven years ago, we've been battling the myth that people should only eat oysters during months that contain the letter "R".  While that means great business for our dozen restaurants over the next several months, we want to put an end to this theory.   This myths, at least for those of us living here in the good ol' United States, with commercial oyster raising standards and harvesting conditions, have zero basis in fact.
